Geoethics is the responsible use of locational data in the public interest, including issues of representativeness, bias, privacy, and surveillance. Open data supports open science by ensuring that the data used in research publications is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR). It is important to consider three principles in designing ethical research: respect for persons, beneficence, and justice.
