Statistical and quantitative analysis methods and algorithms are intended to discover new knowledge from data by numerically characterizing distributions, identifying patterns, and making predictions, as examples. Many analytical techniques, such as Bayesian methods, are derived from mathematical theory and can readily be implemented with many software applications. One example of a statistical analysis is a linear regression that quantitatively measures the extent to which a variable’s values are dependent on other variables.
